The Ka 6E glider of the Schleicher Werke was originally built entirely from wood and was the last model to be built in this way until 1970. It was developed as a single-seater high performance sailplane and is still in service with more than 400 flying units. The Ka 6 is also known as Rhönsegler.
The kit of our model comes with a GRP hull and the wooden kit for the ribbed surfaces. The large canopy is made of transparent plastic. The Ka6E's flight characteristics are quite good-natured, although the model was originally optimized for high performance. Tight circles and good climb rates in thermals are emphasised by the characteristics that are particularly pronounced for slow flight.
