Overview
E-flite® is proud to add the 1/4-scale L-13 Blanik 4.2m to its family of sailplanes. This 1/4-scale replica of this internationally recognized sailplane comes with plenty of scale details including a hinged canopy and an authentic Red Bull trim scheme from the world-famous Flying Bulls. In addition, the foam wings not only provide strength, but also provide a more accurate representation of the full-scale airfoil. The fiberglass construction provides strength and rigidity to the fuselage, while features such as flaps and a spacious cockpit area for radio equipment make this plane easy to operate and maintain, and optional electric spoilers can be added. This great flying plane is ideal for sailplane and aerotow pilots as well as slope soarers.
EFL4910 L-13 Blanik 4.2m ARF Glider
With its authentic fully licensed Red Bull colour scheme the E-flite Blanik is a strikingly handsome high performance glider with outstanding flight characteristics.
The construction of the Blanik features a super smooth pre-painted fibreglass fuselage that offers lightness, rigidity and aerodynamic smoothness combined with super light balsa sheeted foam wing panels covered in UltraCote that is both long lasting and very easy to repair. Another benefit of this covering lies in the fact that its super smooth surface enhances the aerodynamic efficiency of the wing.
With a very modest wing loading of 19.2 ounces per /sq ft the Blanik can say aloft on the merest of breezes and thermals and is perfect for slope soaring from higher ground or when being aero towed by a radio controlled tow-plane to a suitable altitude where it offers a delightful soaring experience and rewards pilots with its aerobatic prowess.
The wings feature electrically operated spoilers with no complicated linkages to reduce assembly time (optional EFL491009) that can be deployed together with flaps on landing approaches enabling the approach to be made at a safe speed for landing replicating the full-size perfectly.
Just like the full-size the fuselage features a large hinged canopy that allows easy access to the radio installation whilst the forward sweep of the wings give the Blanik its distinctive look in the air.
This 1/4scale Blanik with its 165inch wingspan is guaranteed to deliver the very best of soaring experiences for the dedicated glider enthusiast!
The Blanik Glider
The Blanik is probably the worlds most flown glider, thanks to its flying characteristics and durable all-metal structure it was exported to all continents except Antarctica. Today it still flies in forty countries around the world.
Manufactured from 1958 by Let Kunovice in the Czech Republic (former Czechoslovakia) this rugged easy to fly two-seat glider has gone from strength to strength with over 3000 being built.
Constructed entirely from metal with fabric covered flight control surfaces this high wing, two seat glider is easy to control and suitable for basic and advanced training. It is also equipped for flying in clouds and for flying at altitudes of up to 8.000 meters.
It also features a semi-retracting landing gear fitted under the forward fuselage with the option to fit a tail-skid or small tail-wheel as fitted to later versions
Since its introduction generations of pilots have gained their first wings flying the Blanik and to this day it remains as popular as ever. More recently and thanks to the stunning aerobatic displays put on by pilots of the Red Bull display teams more and more people have become captivated by the graceful lines and aerobatic performance of the Blanik.
