The CARSON drive concept for TAMIYA® Trucks in scale 1:14Convert your TAMIYA 2- or 3-axle TAMIYA tractor to an all-wheel drive all-rounder with our self-locking axles. The components can be easily replaced as they are mounted on the existing mounting points. A huge advantage of these axles is that no additional space is required for a shift servo (linkages and Bowden cables), as this locks automatically in the event of loss of traction. Officially licensed by ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
You decide how to convert your 2- or 3-axle tractor, this is possible in two stages:
Configuration options for:
2-axle tractors:

3-axle tractor:
Mercedes-Benz Actros 3363, MAN TGX 26.540, SCANIA R620)
1, 6x4 rear axle drive (with self-locking differential)
TAMIYA® 3-speed manual transmission (kit) with two CARSON rear axles (self-locking), drive shaft set 6x4.
2, 6x6 all-wheel drive with 2+2-speed gearbox
(front axle/rear axle/transfer case self-locking)
CARSON 2-speed manual transmission Compact in combination with the CARSON 2-speed transfer case Torque compensation (self-locking), Driven front axle (self-locking), Two rear axles (self-locking), Drive shaft set 6x6.
CARSON 2-speed transfer case (with speed compensation and self-locking longitudinal differential)
The 2-speed transfer case is intended for use in TAMIYA 2- and 3-axle chassis in conjunction with the 2-speed manual transmission Compact. It offers you the possibility to convert or upgrade your model to four-wheel drive. It impresses with its simple installation, as existing bore/threads are used here. The transfer case offers two additional shiftable gears and a self-locking longitudinal differential which compensates for the speed difference between front and rear axles and automatically activates the differential lock in the event of loss of traction and ensures 100% traction.
Note: When using the 2-speed transfer case, the battery holder must be removed and the 7.2 V drive battery accommodated in the driver's cab.
- Transfer case for driving one or more driven front and rear axles
- 2 gears shiftable (1.speed 1:3 / 2.speed 1:1)
- 7-fold ball bearing
- CNC milled aluminium housing
- Hardened steel gears
- 5 mm gearbox/output shaft
- The gears are shifted via a micro-servo
- Built-in longitudinal differential for speed compensation between front and rear axles
- Simple installation by using existing holes (4 screws) on the TAMIYA ladder frame
- Dimensions distributor LxWxH: 32 x 62 x 40 mm
- Weight approx. 120 g.
- The ratios of this 2-speed manual transmission and the 2-speed transfer case with torque compensation (1.speed 1:33.96, 2.speed 1:16.98, 3.speed 1:11.3, 4.speed 1:5.66) were perfectly matched to each other.
- Self-locking longitudinal differential (gearshift servo, linkage and Bowden cables are not required).
