The Douglas C-47 Skytrain (also called "Dakota") (DACoTA or Douglas Aircraft Company Transport Aircraft) is one of the most popular transport aircraft from World War II. Manufactured by the USA, it was also used by the armies of other Allied countries. It is based on the design of the civilian version of Douglas DC-3. It basically appeared on all fronts of World War II and was exploited long after it ended. It was used, among other things, to land paratroopers and tow planes and to transport supplies, ammunition and evacuate the wounded.
