3D Micro Helicopter with CCPM Swashplate 120° and a new fully adjustable 3G Flybarless stabilization system OFS3 (switchable stabilization modes/3D aerobatics, detailed settings in the smartphone app).

The Micro Helicopter M2 EVO MK2 with a main rotor diameter of 434 mm features a CCPM swashplate controlled by electronically mixed servos, a flybarless rotor head with the new 3G three-axis gyroscopic system now fully configurable in the app instead of the usual mechanical stabilizer and gyros, which stabilize the helicopter around the vertical axis. It has a brushless motor and electronic speed controller with governor function. An intelligent control unit suitable for helicopter beginners in the tilt stabilization mode, as well as for 3D mode for wild aerobatics without limits.

Let’s take a closer look at the latest gem from the design offices of OMP Hobby. The base of the fuselage construction consists of a dural motor mount and main shaft housing with carbon fiber side walls and frames, a plastic landing gear, and a tail boom made from profiled dural tube with a carbon fiber tail fin. The frame houses a new, more powerful brushless electric motor Sunnysky® R40 with a higher KV750, which directly drives the main rotor, without the usual gearboxes. The tail rotor is also directly driven by a brushless mini motor Sunnysky® R13-3. This makes the entire mechanics as simple as possible, avoiding issues with worn-out gears or slipping drives.

The sturdy 4 mm thick main shaft is supported by ball bearings. The swashplate is made of dural, as is the rotor head with blade holders. Thanks to the 3G Flybarless system and electronic CCPM, the rotor head with its newly optimized geometry is very simple. The main rotor blade holders are a beautiful miniature of the holders found on large RC helicopters—with all the ball bearings and damping inserts!

The helicopter’s electronics include a new intelligent 3G Flybarless control unit OFS3 with an integrated electronic speed controller with governor function for the main rotor motor and a controller for the tail rotor motor, and three 10g digital servos (1.65 kg.cm, 0.08 s/60°) for controlling the CCPM swashplate (120°). To control the helicopter, you need at least a 6-channel RC set with a miniature receiver with S.BUS port (or DSM2/DSMX and now also with the bidirectional CRSF protocol with telemetry - systems supported include TBS Crossfire, Tracer, and ExpressLRS). For regular flight operation, the transmitter doesn’t even need to be computer-controlled (all necessary mixes are handled by the control unit), only 4 channels on the sticks, and the fifth channel with a two-position switch to toggle the stabilization and 3D modes of the control unit. For classic and 3D flight, you will need a computer transmitter with 2-3 adjustable flight modes, with at least 5-point collective curves for hover and aerobatics, and another mode for autorotation. With the extensive setting options of the control unit in the smartphone app (including detailed PIDF loop settings), most adjustments that previously required an advanced computer RC set can now be made via the smartphone app (for iOS and Android operating systems). You can, but you don’t have to—the control unit is delivered pre-configured. Your basic parameters can also be set if necessary via the program button and display LEDs on the control unit, as with previous versions of OMPHOBBY control units.

The easily removable sports cockpit is made from a very light thermoformed part of durable plastic—you can choose from three color schemes, which ensure good visibility and "recognition" of the helicopter's position in the air. The helicopter is powered by a 3-cell LiPo battery 11.1 V 750 mAh with a 60C discharge rate (with XT30 connector) mounted at the bottom of the fuselage. This provides up to 10 minutes of easy flying or up to 4 minutes of aggressive 3D aerobatics.

The helicopter comes fully assembled with a pre-set control unit. All you have to do is unpack the helicopter, connect your S.BUS/DSM2/DSMX/CRSF-compatible receiver, charge the drive battery, follow the detailed instructions with clear images to set up your transmitter, check all functions of the helicopter—and you’re ready to go!

M2 EVO MK2 is a 3D helicopter with collective pitch control—and as such, it requires appropriate pilot experience. It is not a drone where you simply give throttle, and it takes off and hovers without any control input. M2 EVO MK2 is suitable for advanced pilots who already have experience flying helicopters with collective pitch control (6-channel). However, with enough endurance, prior training on an RC simulator, under the supervision of an experienced pilot, and using the stabilized mode, even an inexperienced helicopter pilot can fly the M2 EVO MK2.
