Partall® Paste #2 is a wax-based, silicone-free mixture designed for use on the mould surface prior to application of PARTALL® Coverall Film or as a universal release agent/edge wax.

  • Silicone-free
  • For Epoxy-, polyester- and vinyl ester resins
  • Useable up to 60 °C
  • Available in green and colourless

A blend of hydrocarbon and microcrystalline waxes. For high-gloss surfaces. Ideal for smooth and sealed surfaces e.g. on GRP moulds.
Polishing is possible after a drying time of approx. 1-2 minutes
Could be used in conjunction with film release agent PVA.

It is particularly recommended for use on moulds where standard silicone waxes hinder post-finishing operations or as a primer coat prior to the application of PARTALL® Coverall Film.PARTALL® Paste #2 may also be employed as an economical edge wax on larger moulds, and is used to seal rough wood moulds or plugs for casting composites, cement and grouts.

  • Maximum processing temperature: 60 °C

Mould surface preparation
Before application of PARTALL® Paste #2 porous moulds (i.e., plaster or wood) should first be cleaned and sealed. Composites grade sealers and fairing compounds (body filler) are recommended but a good surface on plaster or wood may be obtained with automobile type primer-sealers and lacquers. For non-cosmetic parts with rough wood moulds or plugs, a number of coats of PARTALL® Paste #2 should adequately seal the surface.

Application instructions of the manufacturer:
The mould surface should be thoroughly cleaned before use. Using a clean dry rag, apply a thin even coat of PARTALL® Paste #2 to mould surface, covering 3-4 square foot sections at a time. Excess should be wiped away, also using a clean dry rag. Begin buffing approximately one minute after application (wax can become difficult to polish out if left to soak in for longer periods). Polish to a glossy finish. For this application, we recommend our cleaning and polishing cloth (Art. No. 365-SHT). Note: One layer is sufficient for 3 to 5 cycles on a finished mould. In order to ensure complete coverage, repeat the entire process 3-4 times for the initial moulding cycle. One coat per cycle is then sufficient. Apply additional PARTALL® Coverall Film until the mould is complete.

  • Consumption: 20-60 g/m2 (quantity depends on the condition of the mould surface)

Please note:
For mould surfaces that are extremely smooth (low to no surface roughness), it is advisable to polish carefully or better not at all, as otherwise there is a danger that the release agent application will be removed again (at least in places).
In the original Rexco manual which we have translated here, the author assumes that the user is a professional processor from trade and industry who has the appropriate routine in the processing of composites and therefore also with release agents.
If you do not yet have this experience as a first processor, we recommend that you refrain from polishing until you have a feeling for the wax build-up and the release effect. It is better not to polish the release wax or only to polish it very little and carefully, and later remove a component from the mould with a silk-matt glossy surface than to polish a mirror-smooth mould surface and then possibly not get the component undamaged out of the mould, as it partially sticks to the mould surface.

Important note on substrates:
This product contains solvents based on hydrocarbons (see under Additional Information --> Safety Data Sheet). It also contains a small amount (< 2 %) of aromatic hydrocarbons. Some surfaces made of plastic (e.g. polycarbonate, Plexiglas®, various varnishes, putties) are dissolved by it so that an impression cannot be taken. It is essential to check this before use, either by referring to resistance lists for the materials or by carrying out a preliminary test.
